Penhow, Monmouthshire

Description
Penhow, a parish in Monmouthshire, on Prat Pill, 2 1/2 miles N of Magor station on the G.W.R., and 7 ENE of Newport. It has a post office under Newport; money order and telegraph office, Magor. Acreage, 1843; population, 242. Penhow Castle was long the residence of the St Maur family, retains an embattled tower, and is now a farmhouse. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Llandaff; net valne, £145 with residence. The church is ancient, and was restored and partly rebuilt in 1851.
