Description
Llanwern, a parish in Monmouthshire, 4 miles E of Newport. It has a station on the South Wales section of the G.W.R., and its post town is Newport; money order and telegraph office, Main dee. Acreage, 1716 ; population of the civil parish, 24; of the ecclesiastical with Bishton, 190. The property, with Llanwern House, belonged formerly to the Vanes. The living is a rectory, with the vicarage of Bishton annexed, in the diocese of Llandaff; gross value, £250 with residence. The church was restored in 1865.
