Tythegston, Glamorgan

Description
Tythegston, a parish in Glamorgan, 4 miles W by S of Bridgend. It comprises the townships of Higher and Lower Tythegston, the former of which contains Horgrove and part of Kenfig Hill. Acreage, 2952; population, 1578. There are collieries, and iron, brick, and lime works. The living is a vicarage annexed to that of Newcastle. The church of St Tudwg, Lower Tythegston, is ancient. St Theodore's, Higher Tythegston, was erected in 1889. There are Baptist, Congregational, and Wesleyan chapels.
