Description
Maen Achwynfan, an ancient pillar-cross in the N of Flintshire, in a field under Garreg Mountain, 4 1/2 miles NW of Holywell. Its name signifies " the stone of lamentation," and its surface is covered with carvings of a period between the 9th and the 12th century. It is 12 feet high, and 27 inches wide at the base. i
