Description
Dwygyfylchi, a village and a parish in Carnarvonshire. The village stands on the coast, under Penmaen-bach Mountain, adjacent to the Chester and Holyhead branch of the L. & N.W.R., about a mile ENE of Penmaenmawr railway station, and 2 1/4 miles W of Conway. It commands fine scenery of shore and mountain, a picturesque ravine, Nant Dalar Llwynog (the Fairy Glen), and a wild mountain pass, the Sychnant Pass, are in the neighbourhood. Post town, Penmaenmawr. The parish includes the watering-place of Pen-maenmawr. Acreage, 4076 of land and 384 of adjacent foreshore ; population, 2744. Ancient British remains are found. The living is a perpetual curacy in the diocese of Bangor; net value, £240 with residence. There are churches at Dwy-gyfylchi and Penmaenmawr, and Baptist, Congregational, and Calvinistic Methodist chapels.
