Description
Llanybyther, a village and a parish in Carmarthenshire. The village stands on the river Teifi, at the boundary with Cardiganshire, near the Sarn Helen Way, 4 1/2 miles SW of Lampeter; is a resort of anglers, and has a station on the Manchester and Milford railway, and a post, money order, and telegraph office (R.S.O.) There are fairs on 26 April, 21 July, and 31 Oct. The parish contains also the villages of Abergorlech, Glanduar, Porthyrd, and Tynyffbrd. Acreage, 9955; population, 1174. The surface is hilly. There is a bridge across the Teifi. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of St David's; net value, £144 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is dedicated to St Peter.
