Halton Gill, a township-chapelry in Amcliffe parish, W. R. Yorkshire, near Langtrothdale Chase, 10 miles NNE of Settle station on the M.R. Post town, Skipton; money order office, Rettlewell; telegraph office, Settle. Acreage, 7862; population, 77. It contains the hamlet of Foxup. The land to a great degree is hill and mountain, and is entirely disposed in pasture. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed to the vicarage of Arncliffe, in the diocese of Ripon; joint net value, £192.
