Description
Westwood Park, formerly extra-parochial, now a parish in Worcestershire, 3 miles WNW of Droitwich. Acreage, 741; population, 36. A Benedictine nunnery was founded nere in the time of Richard II., became a cell to Fontevrault Abbey in France, and was given at the dissolution to the Pakingtons. Westwood Park was built in the time of Henry VIII. or Elizabeth, and was enlarged in 1592. The porch was added in the time of James I. It is a noble red brick mansion situated on an eminence, in an extensive park in the centre of plantations, which radiate from the mansion.
