Croome D'Abitot, a parish in Worcestershire, 3 miles WNW of Defford station on the M.R., 3 NE of Upton-on-Severn, and 4 W of Pershore. Post town, Worcester; money order office, Severn Stoke; telegraph office, Kempsey. Acreage, 1178; population, 197. The manor belonged to Urso d'Abitot, and passed in 1593 to the Coventry family. Croome Court, the seat of the Earl of Coventry, contains some interesting pictures, and is surrounded by extensive grounds laid out by " Capability " Brown. The living is a rectory, united with the rectory of Pirton, ln the diocese of Worcester ; joint net vahie, £385. Patron, the Earl of Coventry. The church is modern, and has monuments of the Coventrys.
