Description
Knoyle, West, a parish in Wiltshire, 3 miles E of Mere, and 5 NNW of Gillingham station on the L. & S.W.R. Post town, Mere, under Bath. Acreage, 2015; population, 158. The property all belongs to the Hoare family. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Salisbury; value, £290 with residence, the rectorial tithes having been given to the living by the Earl of Pembroke. The church, excepting the tower, which is ancient and of great beauty, being pinnacled, was rebuilt in 1878.
