Patney, a parish in Wiltshire, on the river Avon, 3 miles W by S of Woodborough station on the G.W.R., and 4 1/2 ESE of Devizes. Post town, Devizes; money order and telegraph office, Woodborough. Acreage, 884; population, 106. The manor belongs to the Earl of Radnor. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Salisbury; net value, £130 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Oxford. The church is ancient but good, has a wooden spire, and was restored in 1877.
