Description
Crudwell, a parish in Wilts, near the Roman road to Cirencester, 4 miles from Kemble station on the G.W.R., and 4 N by E of Malmesbury. It includes the hamlets of Ched-glow, Cbelworth, Eastcourt, and Murcott, and has a post,. money order, and telegraph office under Malmesbury. Acreage, 4899; population, 778. The parish is a meet for the Vale of White Horse hounds. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; value, £390 with residence. The church has Norman portions, and was restored in 1880. There are Baptist and Methodist chapels.
