Description
Christian-Malford, a village and a parish in Wilts. The village stands on the river Avon, 6 miles NE of Chippen-ham, and 3 from Dauntsey station on the G.W.R., and has a post office under Chippenham; money order and telegraph office, Sutton-Benger. The parish comprises 2761 acres; population of the civil parish, 586 ; of the ecclesiastical, 675. The manor belonged anciently to Glastonbury Abbey. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Gloucester and Bristol; value, £960 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Gloucester and Bristol. The church is good, and was thoroughly restored in 1881. There is a Congregational chapel.
