Description

Allington, a parish in Wilts, on the Roman road from Old Sarum to Silchester, 2 1/2 miles NE of Porton station on the L. & S.W.R., and 3 3/4 ESE of Amesbury. Acreage, 957; population, 70. Post town, Salisbury; money order and telegraph office, Winterbourne Gunner. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Salisbury; net value, £100. Patron, the Earl of Craven. The church is very good. There is a small Methodist chapel.
