Description
Leamington Hastings, a parish in Warwickshire, on the river Learn, 1 1/2 mile SE of Birdingbury station on the Rugby, Leamington, and Warwick branch of the L. & N.W.R., 4 miles NNE of Southam, and 10 E of Leamington. It contains the hamlets of Hill, Broadwell, and Kites Hardwick, and has a post office under Rugby; money order office, Mar-ton; telegraph office, Stockton. Acreage, 3366; population, 415. The manor belonged anciently to the family of Hastang, whence, by corruption, came the postfix name Hastings. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Worcester; net value, £479 with residence. The church formerly belonged to the Priory of Nostell in Yorkshire, and was restored in 1887. There is a Wesleyan chapel at Broad-well, and there are several almshouses.
