Description
Lapworth, a village and a parish in Warwickshire. The village stands near the Stratford-upon-Avon and the Warwick and Birmingham Canals, 2 miles WSW of Kingswood station on the G.W.R., and 4 N by E of Henley-in-Arden, and has a post office under Birmingham; money order and telegraph office, Hockley Heath. The parish includes also part of the hamlet of Kingswood, which also has a post office under Birmingham. It comprises 2984 acres; population, 617. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Worcester; net value, £293 with residence. Patron, Merton College, Oxford. The church is mainly Decorated and Later English, consists of nave, with aisles and clerestory, chancel, with a chapel on the N side, a porch with a chapel above, and an embattled tower. The hamlet of Bushwood and the parish of Lapworth are united for Parish Council purposes.
