Frimley, a village, a chapelry, and a township in Surrey. The village stands on the river Blackwater, under the Chob-ham ridges, 4 miles SW by S of Bagshot, and has a station on the L. & S.W.R., 33 miles from London. It presents a somewhat picturesque appearance, has a bridge over the Blackwater, and a post, money order, and telegraph office under Famborough. Acreage of the civil parish, 7674; population, 5295 ; of the ecclesiastical, 2291. The chapelry includes the village and about one-half of the township. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Winchester; value, £270 with residence. Patron, the Rector of Ash. The church is modern, and there are a Baptist chapel and a national school. The township includes also York Town chapelry, and is in the parish of Ash.
