Description
Yoxford, a village and a parish in Suffolk The village stands 1 mile WNW of Darsham station on the G.E.R., and 4 miles N of Saxmundham, and has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Saxmundham. The parish comprises 2730 acres; population, 1047. There is a parish council consisting of thirteen members. Cockfield Hall is the seat of the baronet family of Blois, and Grove House, the Rookery, Elmsley, and Sans Souci are other chief residences. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Norwich; gross value, £112 with residence. The church is in the Perpendicular style, and has been restored and enlarged. There are two Methodist chapels, a mechanics' institute, and a library.
