Uggeshall, a parish in Suffolk, 4 miles from Brampton station on the G.E.R. It has a post office under Wangford; money order and telegraph office, Wangford. Acreage, 1494; population of the civil parish, 235; of the ecclesiastical, with Sotherton, 394. The manor belongs to the Earl of Stradbroke. There are sand and clay pits. The living is a rectory, united with Sotherton, in the diocese of Norwich; gross value, £580 with residence. Patron, the Earl of Stradbroke. The church is an ancient building of flint in the Early English style, and has been restored and enlarged.
