Description
Tattingstone, a parish, with a village, in Suffolk, 1 mile ESE of Bentley station on the G.E.R., and 5 1/2 miles S by W of Ipswich. It has a post office under Ipswich; money order office, Bentley; telegraph office, Stutton, and it contains Samford workhouse. Acreage, 1671; population, 515. There is a parish council consisting of nine members. The manor, with Tattingstone Place, was purchased in 1893 by Mr Roger Kerrison. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £260 with residence. The church is a building of rubble in the Decorated style, and there is a Wesleyan chapel.
