Sternfield, a village and a parish in Suffolk, 1 1/2 mile S of Saxmundham station on the G.E.R. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Saxmundham. Acreage, 1108; population, 212. The manor belongs to the Long family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £319 with residence. The church is an ancient building of flint and rubble, consisting of chancel and nave, and a low embattled western tower. It has a stained east window, and for an altarpiece a fine painting by West of the " Blind Man restored to Sight"
