Description
Ringsfield, a village and a parish in Suffolk. The village stands 2 1/2 miles SSW of Beccles station on the East Suffolk branch of the G.E.R. The parish contains also the hamlet of Redisham Parva, which anciently was a separate parish. It has a post office called Ringsfield Common, under Beccles, money order and telegraph office, Beccles. Acreage, 1832; population, 309. Bingsfield Hall is a fine mansion of red brick, standing in a park of about 100 acres. Little Redisham Hall is a modern mansion standing in its own grounds, within which are the ruins of the church of the quondam parish. The living is a rectory, united with the rectory of Little Eedisham, in the diocese of Norwich; net value, £307 with residence. The church is an ancient thatched building of rubble in the Perpendicular style, consisting of chancel, nave, S porch, vestry, and an embattled western tower. There is a Congregational chapel.
