Poslingford, a parish, with a village, in Suffolk, 2 1/2 miles N of Clare station on the G.E.R., and 9 E by N of Haverhill. It has a post office under Clare (R.S.O); money order and telegraph office, Clare. Acreage, 2439; population of the civil parish, 341; of the ecclesiastical, 332. The manor belongs to the Cumberlege-Ware family. Poslingford House is a chief residence standing in its own grounds. Remains of Chipley Abbey are here, and have been converted into a farmhouse. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ely; net value, £92 with residence. The church is a small building of flint consisting of chancel, nave, S porch, and a square embattled western tower. It has some Norman remains, some good stained windows, and some memorials of the Golding family.
