Ousden, a village and a parish in Suffolk. The village stands 1 1/2 mile E of the boundary with Cambridgeshire, 5f miles S by W of Higham station on the Newmarket and Bury section of the G.E.R., and 6 1/2 ESE of Newmarket, and has a post office under Newmarket; money order office, Wickham Brook; telegraph office, Dalham. The parish comprises 1382 acres; population of the civil parish, 277 ; of the ecclesiastical, 285. The manor, with Ousden Hall and most of the land, belongs to the Mackworth Praed family. The hall is an elegant mansion in the Grecian style, and has extensive grounds. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; net value, about £200 with residence. The church is a building of flint and stone in the Norman style, and consists of nave, transept, and chancel, with porch and tower. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
