Description
Knoddishall, a village and a parish in Suffolk. The village stands 1 1/4 mile W of Leiston station on the G.E.R., and 3 miles ESE of Saxmundham, and has a post office under Saxmnndham; money order and telegraph office, Leiston. The parish contains also part of the hamlet of Coldfair Green, and the quondam parish of Buxlow, and is sometimes called Knodishall-cum-Buxlow. Acreage, 1850; population, 441. The living is a rectory, united with the chapelry of Buxlow, in the diocese of Norwich; tithe commuted at £491 with residence. The church of St Lawrence, which stands on a rising ground, is a building of flint and stone in the Decorated style, consists of chancel, nave, and western tower, and has a brass of 1460.
