Description
Kettlebaston, a parish, with a village, in Suffolk, on the river Brett, 4 miles E from Lavenham station on the G.E.R., and 7 NNW from Hadleigh. Acreage, 1041; population of the civil parish, 120; of the ecclesiastical, 133. Post town, Ipswich; money order and telegraph office, Bildeston. The manor belonged to the De la Poles, passed to the Walde-graves, the Lemans, and others, and belongs now to the Beechcroft family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Ely; net yearly value, a£214 with residence. The church is good, has a tower, and contains an old brass and an old monument of Lady Jeremy.
