Hintlesham, a village and a parish in Suffolk. The village stands near a branch of the river Orwell, 2 1/2 miles NE by N from Raydon station on the G.E.R., and 4 1/2 ENE from Hadleigh, and has a post office under Ipswich; money order office, Ipswich; telegraph office, Copdock. The parish comprises 2804 acres; population of the civil parish, 567; of the ecclesiastical, 575. Hintlesham Hall belonged to the Timperleys, and passed to the Lloyds and the Anstrnthers, to whom it now belongs. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; gross yearly value, £442 with residence. The church is old but good, with a tower, and contains a brass of 1400, and a monument to the Misses Lloyd. There are a Primitive Methodist chapel and an endowed school.
