Great Thurlow, Suffolk

Thurlow, Great, a parish, with a village, in Suffolk, 3 1/2 miles N by E of Haverhill station on the G.E.R. It has a fair on 11 Oct., and it gives name and title to the descendants of Lord Chancellor Thurlow. Post town, Newmarket. Acreage, 2055; population, 383. There is a parish council consisting of seven members. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Ely; gross value, £370 with residence. The church is an ancient building of stone in the Early English style, was restored in 1879. There is a Congregational chapel.
