Description
Gisleham, a parish in Suffolk, near the coast, 2 1/2 miles S from Carlton Colville station on the G.E.R., and 4^ SW by S of Lowestoft. Post town, Lowestoft; money order and telegraph office, Kessingland. Acreage, 1341; population, 287. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; gross yearly value, £312 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is ancient but very good, has a round tower, surmounted by a hexagonal steeple, and contains an octagonal Later English font, and remains of a screen.
