Description
Easton, a village and a parish in Suffolk, on the river Deben, 2 miles SW from Parham station on the G.E.R., and 2^ NW by N from Wickham-Market. There is a post office under Wickham-Market; money order and telegraph office,. Wickham-Market. Acreage, 1484; population, 418. Easton Park was formerly the seat of the Earls of Rochford and the Wingfields, and is now a seat of the Duke of Hamilton and Brandon, who is lord of the manor and principal landowner. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich; gross yearly value, o£355 with residence. Patron, the Duke of Hamilton. The church has an embattled tower, contains two ancient brasses, and is very good.
