Description
Cotton, a village and a parish in Suffolk, three-quarters of a mile S of Finningham station on the G.E.R., and 6 miles N by E of Stowmarket, with a post office under Stowmarket; money order office, Bacton; telegraph office, Finningham. Acreage, 2008; population, 472. Cotton Hall, now a farmhouse, is an ancient mansion surrounded by a moat. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich ; gross yearly value, £396 with residence. The church is an ancient building of flint in the Perpendicular and Decorated styles," and there is a Wesleyan chapel.
