Chediston, a village and a parish in Suffolk, 2 miles W by N of Halesworth station on the G.E.R. There is a post office under Halesworth; money order and telegraph office, Halesworth. Acreage, 2496; population, 363. Chediston Hall is a Tudor edifice, and the seat of the Rants. The living is a vicarage, annexed to the rectory of Halesworth, in the diocese of Norwich ; joint gross yearly value, £500 with residence at Halesworth. The church is a building of flint in the Early English style. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
