Bredfield, a parish in Suffolk, 2 miles NW from Melton station on the G.E.R., and 3 N of Woodbridge. It has a post office under Woodbridge, which is the money order and telegraph office. Acreage, 1107; population of civil parish, 375; of ecclesiastical, with Pettistree, 625. Bredfield House is an ancient mansion standing in a park of 65 acres. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich, with Lowdham and Pettistree annexed; joint net value, £168 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church, an ancient building of flint in the Early English style, was restored in 1875.
