Hanford, an ecclesiastical parish in Trentham parish, Staffordshire, near the Grand Trunk Canal and the river Trent, 2 1/2 miles S of Stoke-on-Trent, with a post office under Stoke-on-Trent; money order and telegraph office, Trent Vale. Population, 1373. The Duke of Sutherland is lord of the manor. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield; value, £183. Patron, the Duke of Sutherland. The church was built in 1827, and rebuilt in 1868. There is a Primitive Methodist chapel.
