Description
Worle, a parish, with a village, in Somerset, and a station on the G.W.R., 135 miles from London, and 2 1/2 ENE of Weston-super-Mare. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Weston-super-Mare. Acreage, 1894; population of the civil parish, 1018; of the ecclesiastical, 1000. There is a parish council consisting of sixteen members. Limestone and calamine abound. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Bath and Wells; net value, £195 with residence. Patron, the Lord Chancellor. The church is an ancient building of stone chiefly in the Perpendicular style, with traces of Norman work. There are Bible Christian and Free Methodist chapels.
