Rodney Stoke, a village and a parish in Somerset. The village stands under the Mendip Hills, 1 1/2 mile from Draycott station on the G.W.R., and gave the title of Baron in 1782 to Admiral Rodney. Post town, Weston-super-Mare. The parish contains part of Draycott hamlet, and comprises 2720 acres; population of the civil parish, 676; of the ecclesiastical, 185. There is a parish council consisting of five members. The Mendip Hills here, especially a peak called Stoke Knoll, rise with great boldness and beauty. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells; net value, £160 with residence. Patron, the Bishop of Bath and Wells. The church, dedicated to St Leonard, is Later English, contains monuments of the Rodney family, has been well restored, and has a unique and very handsome carved oak screen of 1625.
