Description
Chelvey, a parish in Somerset, near Nailsea station on the G.W.R., 83- miles WSW of Bristol. Under the Divided Parishes Act of 1882 this parish, in 1885, was annexed "to Brockley for civil purposes only. It has a post and money order office under West Town ; telegraph office, Nail-sea railway station. Population, 45. The manor-house is now used as a farmhouse, and bears the arms of the Tyntes, who became owners of the manor about 1600. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Bath and Wells; net value, £92 with residence. The church is Later English.
