Description
Wentnor, a village and a parish in Salop. The village lies under the Long Mynd, 2 1/2 miles N of Eaton station on the Bishops Castle railway, and 5 1/2 NE of Bishops Castle. It has a post office under Bishops Castle (R.S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Bishops Castle. The parish includes the townships of Adstone, Home, Kinnerton, Medlicott, and Ritton. Acreage, 6303; population, 583. There is a parish council of nine members and a chairman. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, £223. Patron, Christchurch, Oxford. The church was rebuilt in 1885, and retains portion of the former Norman church.
