Description
Uppington, a parish in Salop, 1 1/2 mile S of Walcot station on the G.W.R. and L. & N.W.R., and 4 WSW of Wellington. It has a post, money order, and telegraph office under Wellington. Acreage, 719; population of the civil parish, 78; of the ecclesiastical, which includes Aston township, 175. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield; net value, £134 with residence. The church is Norman, but was restored, and the tower rebuilt, in 1885.
