Description
Quatt, a parish in Salop, adjacent to the river Severn, 1 1/2 mile NE by N of Hampton Loade station on the G.W.R.,. and 4 miles SSE of Bridgnorth. It consists of the townships of Quatt Jervis and Quatt Malvern, and it has a post office under Bridgnorth; money order and telegraph office, Bridgnorth. Acreage, 2712; population, 418. Dudmastoa Hall, the seat of the lord of the manor, stands in an extensive park containing six lakes. There are traces of a Roman camp, and the soil is generally sandy. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lichfield; net value, £214 with residence. The church is partly Early English and partly Georgian, and was restored in 1877. It contains an ancient font and monuments of the Wolryches. The South-East Shropshire District Workhouse Industrial School is in this parish.
