Description
Petton, a parish in Salop, 3 miles N by E of Baschurch station on the G.W.R., and 4 1/4 SW of Wem. Post town, Baschurch, under Shrewsbury. Acreage, 834; population, 45. Petton Park, which was rebuilt in 1894, is the chief residence, and stands in an extensive park. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lichfield; gross value, £120. The church was rebuilt in 1727, and restored in 1871. It contains a carved oak pulpit and altar-piece of 1635.
