Hinstock, Shropshire

Description
Hinstock, a village and a parish in Salop. The village stands 6 miles N of Newport, and 5 SE of Market Drayton, and has a post office under Market Drayton; telegraph office, Cheswardine. A reading-room was built in 1887. The parish comprises 3266 acres; population of the civil parish, 781; of the ecclesiastical, 760. Hinstock Hall is the chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lichfield; net value, £400 with residence. The church is ancient, and was enlarged in 1851. There are Wesleyan and Primitive Methodist chapels.
