Description
Halston, formerly extra-parochial, now a parish in Salop, near the river Perry and the Shropshire Union Canal, 4 miles ENE of Oswestry. Acreage, 700. A preceptory of the Rnights Templars, afterwards of the Rnights Hospitallers, was situated here, was given in the time of Elizabeth to William Home, and passed to the Myttons. Halston Hall was long the seat of the Myttons, one of whom was a well-known sportsman, familiarly called Jack Mytton, and is now the seat of the Wright family.
