Description
Eyton-on-the-Weald-Moors, a village and a parish in Salop, near the Shrewsbury Canal, 2 1/4 miles N of Wellington, with a post office, of the name of Eyton, under Wellington; money order and telegraph office, Wellington. Acreage, 979 ; population, 63. Eyton Hall is the seat of the lord of the manor. The living is a rectory, annexed to the vicarage of Wellington, in the diocese of Lichfield. The church is ancient, and contains some good stained glass and monuments to the Eyton family. Lord Herbert of Cherbury was a native.
