Dudleston, Shropshire

Description
Dudleston or Duddleston, an ecclesiastical parish in the civil parish of Ellesmere, Salop, at the verge of the county, on the river Dee, 3 miles SE of Frankton station on the Cambrian railway, and 4 NW by W of Ellesmere. It includes various townships, and has a post and money order office under Ellesmere; telegraph office, Dudleston Heath. Population, 406. Plas Yolyn, Killiendre, Sodylt Hall, Shelbrooke Hill, and Erway are the chief residences. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield ; gross value, £238 with residence. Patron, the Vicar of Ellesmere. The church is ancient, has an octagonal tower, and has been restored. In the churchyard, from which there are very lovely views over several counties, is an ancient stone cross; also several very ancient yew trees.
