Description
Cound, a village and a parish in Salop. The village stands near the river Severn, 2 miles NW of Cressage station on the G.W.R., 4 1/2 miles SSE of Condover, and 6 1/2 SE by S of Shrewsbury. Post town, Condover under Shrewsbury; money order and telegraph office, Cressage. The parish includes the ecclesiastical parish of Cressage. Acreage (excluding Cressage), 3772 ; population, 515. Cound Hall is the seat of the Thursby-Pelham family. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Lichfield; net value, £370 with residence. The church is ancient, and contains a Norman font and a piscina.
