Description
Clungunford, a township and a parish in Salop, on the river Clun and Watling Street, 1 1/2 mile SW of Broome station, and 1 1/2 SE of Hopton Heath station on the L. & N.W.R., and 6 1/2 miles ESE of Clun. It includes the townships of Abcott, Beckjay, Broadward, Shelderton, and part of Broome and Rowton, and its post town is Aston-on-Clun (R.S.O.); money order and telegraph office, Aston-on-Clun. Acreage, 3759 ; population, 570. Clungunford House, Ferney Hall, and Broadward Hall are chief residences. Limestone is found. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Hereford; gross value, £538 with residence. The church is Early Decorated English. There are two Primitive Methodist chapels.
