Description
Broughton, a parish in Salop, 3 1/2 miles SSW from Wem. It includes the township of Yorton, which has a station on the L. & N.W.R. Post town, Shrewsbury; money order office, Harmer Hill; telegraph office, Hadnall. Acreage, 904; population, 171. The living is a vicarage in the diocese of Lichfield; gross value £64. The church was built in 1858, is in the Early Decorated style, and consists of nave and chancel, with bell-turret and vestry.
