Wardley, a small parish and a village in Rutland, on the borders of Leicestershire, 2 1/4 miles W from East Norton station on the G.N.R. and L. & N.W.R. Joint line. Post town and money order and telegraph office, Uppingham. Acreage, 748; population of the civil parish, 45; of the ecclesiastical, with Belton, 417. The living is a discharged rectory with the vicarage of Belton annexed, in the diocese of Peterborough; gross yearly value, £265 with residence, in the gift of the Bishop of Peterborough. The church, an ancient building of stone in the Early English style, consists of chancel, nave, S porch, and a western tower with spire, and contains some memorials of the Fludyer family.
