Description

Egleton, a parish in Rutland, on an affluent of the river Gwash, near the Syston and Peterborough branch of the M.R., 1 3/4 mile SE from Oakham station. Post town, and money order and telegraph office, Oakham. Acreage, 923; population, 111. The living is a perpetual curacy, annexed with Langham and Brooke, to the vicarage of Oakham, in the diocese of Peterborough. The church is a restored portion of a very large ancient edifice, which had a guild for masses.
